What does it mean to be truly present?
It is something that I say, hear, share about quite a lot with clients and sometimes it is received with a blank look. I wanted to share with you today some tips, tricks and ways to build being present in your life because there is so much power in it, it truly is a game changer.
One of the loveliest compliments I receive is that people feel so calm around me. Calm comes from being fully present. Calm comes from a deep innate knowing that we can always handle whatever is on our horizon and when we are present and calm, we are able to invite others into that space with us too – the most beautiful ripple effect!

Being fully in the present moment
Being present means being fully in your body, mind, heart and soul connection, to this moment, just as it is, right here and right now. When we are present, we are not in the past, nor are with in the future, we have all our senses and awareness in the present moment.
There are no mind wanderings into the past or the future, just having all your
attention and focus on what is right here in front of us.
How do you actually practice presence?
It is easy to say “be here now”, it is easy to say “be present” but how do you actually do it? Like anything, the more that you practice it, the stronger it grows. The more you are present, the more you are able to be present for longer periods of time.
Presence as an antidote to anxiety
Anxiety is described as a fear of the future, that we cannot handle what is coming, what lies ahead. Presence is often a really beautiful antidote to anxiety because when we are fully present, truly connected, there is no fear, not of the past or the future, but when we can just be where we are, all is okay in this present moment.
Checking in with yourself
When we are in each moment of our days, our mind has clarity. Our mind is
generally calm and not worried about what lies ahead or what has already
happened. When we feel into this moment, we might notice the ground beneath us, the temperature of the air around us, the support under us, we might notice how our breath is coming in and out – is it fast or shallow? It is slow and steady? We might see if we are hungry, thirsty, tired, excited, anxious – if I was to ask you how you feel out 10 right now, what would you say? 1 being the worst, 10 being the best? No judgement, no pressure, just checking in and noticing how you are feeling, where you are and what is supporting you.
Energy healing and presence
The thing I love most about being an Intuitive Energy Healing Practitioner is once you arrive online or in person, we set the intention and open sacred soul space. It brings us both so fully into the present moment and that is where the real magic begins to happen. In the moment, we take stress out of the nervous system, out of the body by finding and releasing priority emotions that are blocking energy flow. By doing this, we are fully present in this moment, things shift and change with the breath, with remedies and with spirit guiding us every step of the way. I highly recommend an Energy Healing session to help you get fully present and I notice in my clients they are able to drop into that state of being fully present more and more the more we work together.
Yoga, sound healing and reconnecting
Mindful Yoga and Sound Healing have also been two things that really have helped me to become so present and connected to my mind, body, heart and soul.
Have you ever had an Intuitive Energy Healing session, been to a yoga class or a
sound healing? Do you remember that feeling of when you arrive, your mind may be busy, so many things. The traffic, the day that has been, the day that lies ahead.
In the moment of being present, we have the ability to press pause.
To allow our body, mind, heart and soul to reconnect and take some time to just be. It never fails to amaze me how different we feel after a session or a class.
Presence in nature
Walks in nature are also really good, noticing all the beauty that we are surrounded by, noticing each step we take. In this moment, while it may not be perfect, we are okay. When we bring our awareness to our surroundings and within us, it helps us to call back in our power.
What does it mean to call back your power?
What does it mean to call back and be in your power?
One of my sons asked me this question the other day. It is also something we say often, as if there is an understanding that we have within us that we know what it means.
Put simply, I think that when we call our power back it means that we are in the
drivers seat of our lives. Consciously creating our lives, not being in a state of
reactivity where we are putting out fires all day every day, but living a life that truly matters to us, that means something to us and we have this inner fire, this inner knowing inside that we are exactly where we are meant to be and that we can do anything our heart desires.
The connection between power and presence
I think being in our power and being present to this moment go hand in hand. I don’t think you can truly be in your power if you are not present and I don’t think you can be fully present and now feel that innate power that lies within.
Power and presence in my opinion go together as best friends. Supporting and
helping guide us towards a life that we choose. One where we thrive not just survive. One that FEELS so good, so aligned and it comes with a deep knowing that we can handle whatever lies ahead on our horizon.
Trust, surrender and uncertainty
There are so many times in life that we are uncertain and unsure but they are always moments for us to dive even deeper into trust and surrender. To be present where we are and notice how much more power we have when we drop the worry, the anxiety, the what ifs, the uncertainty and just be present where we are.
Living in a distracted world
Our world is distracting. Everything and everyone is often pulling us in different
directions and our devices are so easy to lose time in.
Collectively, right now, we are being invited to step outside of what is familiar and open ourselves to a more expansive way of living, creating and contributing. Our intuition is our greatest guide and the more present we can be, the more our heart and our intuition is able to guide the way forward in this very powerful time we are in right now.
Simple ways to invite presence into your life
I hope you can bring more intentional presence into your life and feel more
connected to your mind, body, heart and soul. Do one thing today to feel that
presence and that power.
Take a walk in nature, close your eyes and take a big breath, have a coffee and
notice all the things you love about that experience, write, create, draw, get outside, have a bath, got to a yoga class or sound healing, laugh with a loved one, share a hug and don’t be the first one to let go, take a few minutes to check in and notice how you are truly feeling.
The ripple effect of presence
The more you do these things, the more you will be able to be present. The more
present we are, the better we can love, problem solve, care, share and it is from this place that new opportunities and solutions have somewhere to find us.
What you focus on expands and presence is a really beautiful thing to have
much more power and presence in our lives.
